A thorough, but user-friendly, latin textbook - Like volume I, this is a carefully thought out course, building grammar and vocabulary with exercises to test each step. Oulton s approach is friendly and much more personal than the old-style text book. His humour grates sometimes, but the overall effect is stimulating and encouraging. The book is well priced but I should like to see the answers to the exercises included, rather than sold separately.
